Where are the women you say..

So here it is thursday the day before the opening. What has happened since i last logged on. One thing I have noticed about the pictures is that you may say "hey Erika where the hell are the women making the robots? Didn't you show us a picture of Lara and her piece....how has she progressed...take a look.Roll_51__1_1

there she is with her cousin in the blue shirt and boyfriend in the red shirt at this point i cannot remember names, forgive me. As far as I can tell Lara's piece is completely manual, her marionette is in the center and there are a series of levers around the piece that you can manipulate to make the marionette move, I am looking forward to trying out the piece.

Roll_51__2_1
Did you ask yourself...what are those orange things on the wall? this is Bjorn's piece Nervous.

Roll_51__21_1

here is Bjorn and Lara's cousin notice eyes kinda half closed, then notice empty pint glasses on the table.

the art has arrived and all is well. the venue is an old church in the medieval district of downtown Dublin, it has been restored and functions as a cultural venue. here are some pics.

this is Brett J. Doar working on ROBOZOIC Check out artbots.org for info on his piece.
Roll_48__7
This is where scale is going to be, it is a ramp that goes around the outside walls of a pit sounds odd but the idea will be to mount the wood on the wall and place the speaker boxes around the ramp so as you walk up you are walking through the sounds.
I am off to look for some wood.

Scale

Erikalincolnscale_2

Here is a picture of Scale at Ace Art Gallery in Winnipeg.

I will be building a new version of Scale when I get to Dublin....the general idea will be the same (reactive motorized branches scratching contact mics and broacasting the sounds) but the shape will change based on what wood I find lying around Dublin. This will be interesting....
Wish me luck on my wood hunt!
