After we shut down for the day a few of us went off to Howth which is a town 20 min north of dublin by train. there is a pier and then you can do walks along the cliffs. We were a bit tired to walk so we went to the beach to watch the sunset.
here are Christian Gützer and Emanuel Andel of Shockbot fame
and here are myself and William Tremblay of wave puppet fame.
It is really nice here a change from the downtown of Dublin i think I am going to come back here and do the cliff walk.
Well it is 11:00am and time to go to the church for day three of artbots!!!
I have to start lobbying for votes.
So here it is thursday the day before the opening. What has happened since i last logged on. One thing I have noticed about the pictures is that you may say "hey Erika where the hell are the women making the robots? Didn't you show us a picture of Lara and her piece....how has she progressed...take a look.
there she is with her cousin in the blue shirt and boyfriend in the red shirt at this point i cannot remember names, forgive me. As far as I can tell Lara's piece is completely manual, her marionette is in the center and there are a series of levers around the piece that you can manipulate to make the marionette move, I am looking forward to trying out the piece.

Did you ask yourself...what are those orange things on the wall? this is Bjorn's piece Nervous.
here is Bjorn and Lara's cousin notice eyes kinda half closed, then notice empty pint glasses on the table.

Editor's Note,
please be advised that most postings are greatly exaggerated

This internet cafe is closing so I have to stop.....and sleep.

the art has arrived and all is well. the venue is an old church in the medieval district of downtown Dublin, it has been restored and functions as a cultural venue. here are some pics.

this is Brett J. Doar working on ROBOZOIC Check out artbots.org for info on his piece.

This is where scale is going to be, it is a ramp that goes around the outside walls of a pit sounds odd but the idea will be to mount the wood on the wall and place the speaker boxes around the ramp so as you walk up you are walking through the sounds.
I am off to look for some wood.
Here is a picture of Scale at Ace Art Gallery in Winnipeg.
I will be building a new version of Scale when I get to
Dublin....the general idea will be the same (reactive motorized
branches scratching contact mics and broacasting the sounds) but the
shape will change based on what wood I find lying around Dublin. This
will be interesting....
Wish me luck on my wood hunt!
