In partnership with Ka Ni Kanichihk and Rainbow Resource Centre, the Fast Forward programs seeks to create opportunities for aboriginal youth, and youth with diverse sexual and gender identities to engage with video as a creative medium. Participating youth will realize group and individual video art projects, increase their media arts literacy and gain access to the vast resources available at Video Pool.
Workshops, lead by artists Michael Dudeck and Ervin Chartrand, will begin in November at the participating centres. These workshops will focus on developing basic video-making skills and culminate in the creation of several small group projects. Several youth will then be selected from each centre to continue working on individual projects with the help and guidance of a mentor from the arts community.
