With the implementation of a monthly video series in 2001, Spark Contemporary Art Space emerged as the leading venue for Video Art in Syracuse, New York. With the success of this initial program, Spark Video International has expanded to venues in Beacon, NY (2003) and Brooklyn, NY (2004).
Spark Video Canada, the latest instalment of this series, will begin its programming year in September 2004 at the Forest City Gallery in London, Ontario.
Following the original Spark Video mandate, each monthly event will consist of one SPARK VIDEO INTERNATIONAL program and one program of community based video known as SPARK HOME VIDEO. The result is a monthly series that supports local, national and international video art. This series is geared to stimulate the community through international exhibition, and provides a new audience for artists worldwide.
Videos included in this series will be considered for future curatorial proposals and exchanges with international festivals, and possible inclusion in other Spark Video International venues.
Spark Video Canada is Curated and organized by David Poolman and Jeremy Drummond.
