Submitting Your Work for Distribution with Video Pool
Video Pool’s distribution department strives to get artists paid for their work by soliciting exhibition and accessibility in a professional context. By monitoring a vast network of international submission calls, we submit our clients’ films,videos and sound art to festivals, schools, artist-run centres, cinemas, broadcast avenues and galleries who offer artist fees according to CARFAC and IMAA guidelines. Video Pool distribution is non-exclusive, meaning that the artist retains full rights to their work and is able to solicit additional exhibitions that may fall outside of our mandate.
If you are interested in submitting your work for distribution with Video Pool, there are a few steps to follow in creating the package we need to help get your work out there:
1. A signed contract [Download Vp-artist-contract-2010];
2. A signed and completed ‘Schedule A’, which lists the particular works you are submitting, their length, the date of creation, and deposited format (Schedule A is attached to contract document);
3.A signed and completed ‘Checklist for new Submissions’ [Download Submission Checklist];
4. An artist biography;
5. A BETA SP submaster (for flm/video) or an uncompressed or MP3 file (if audio);
6. A 50-word (+/-) synopsis; and
7. A high-res artist photo
Once you have completed this package, please contact the Distribution Coordinator or Distribution Associate (e: vpdist@videopool.org / t: 204-949-9134 xt 7) to make an appointment to bring your package to Video Pool’s distribution department, which is on the second floor at 100 Albert St. Please do not bring a partial package, as we require the full package in order to properly assist you. The contract and Schedule A will be signed by the Distribution Coordinator, and a copy mailed to you for your records.
Please note that to be eligible for distribution you must be the primary creator/copyright owner of the work. Works containing uncleared music or image appropriation will be accepted provided these exceptions are declared on the Schedule A.
