Video Pool Renovation

RENOVATION NEWS:

Phase 1 of the renovation project to our 3rd floor production studios to create a more friendly and efficient space that maximizes access to recent equipment acquisitions is now complete!
Improvements include:
• a new media lab that provides users with privacy and a quiet environment to work in
• a ventilated “machine room” that contains noisy external data storage devices while creating easier access to use these drives in concert with computerized editing stations
• a properly proportioned room for situating Video Pool’s 5.1 surround sound audio system
• a reception desk and technicians’ workstation allowing staff to assist members as soon as they enter the space and monitor access to technical resources
• the creation of a comfortable Member Lounge that encourages a sense of community among Video Pool’s many users

Phase 2 of the renovation project will construct the interior of the multi-channel suite which will be designed for optimal 5.1 surround sound editing as well.

The goals of this renovation project are to:
• create an inviting environment that inspires creativity, discussion and collaboration
• improve services to artists working outside of single channel video, such as installation, audio art and experimental electronics
• make more effective use of Video Pool’s existing staff, space and equipment resources.

Video Pool Access, Rental and Return Policy

General

Video Pool’s services are for independent artists, producers and community groups in good membership standing with Video Pool that are engaged in the production of artist-controlled productions of social and artistic value.
Members must familiarize themselves with Video Pool’s booking and recording procedures and comply accordingly.

Costs of services and supplies are subject to change without prior notice.

Failure to pay debts or abide by this policy will mean suspension of access.

Technical News and Information

Equipment Bookings and Rentals are to be made in person or over the telephone.  Email bookings will not be accepted.

The whole of Artspace, including Video Pool, has upgraded its security alarms. The new alarm system is more up-to-date, effective and simple to administer. Any member in good standing who requires after hours access may purchase an access card from a Video Pool technician for $25. If you already have an access card, you may trade it in for a new card at anytime.

Video Pool reserves the right to deny after hours access to members who are not in good standing, that is members who have not paid their bills for a period of more than 30 days or have a history of not treating Video Pool’s equipment and facilities with respect.
